Chopped Cheese Slush Burgers

  • Author: Leora Ellingson

Description

Chopped cheese…but make it slushy, messy, and ridiculously good 🍔🔥 My chopped cheese slush burgers are all about that juicy, melty, cheesy bite where every layer is stacked with flavor. Toasty bun, seasoned beef, gooey cheese, crisp toppings—it’s the ultimate comfort burger that doesn’t play around.

Who’s hungry? 👀

Ingredients

Scale

Olive oil

1 poblano pepper, small dice

1 jalapeno, minced

1 onion, small dice

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 teaspoons Montreal Steak Seasoning

1 ½ pounds ground beef

2 tablespoons white vinegar

3 tablespoons brown sugar

¼ cup lime juice (23 limes)

1 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons dry mustard

½ cup beef broth

1 small can tomato sauce (8 oz.)

¼ cup ketchup

68 slices American Cheese

For Serving:

Hoagie buns, buttered and toasted

Iceberg lettuce, shredded

Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large saute pan, add the poblano pepper, jalapeno, and onion; and cook until softened.  Add the garlic and saute until fragrant.  Add the Montreal and work it into the vegetables.  Add the ground beef and cook until it gets nicely browned and a crust starts to develop.  Then start breaking it apart and incorporating the vegetables into the meat.  Once the beef is cooked through, add the white vinegar, brown sugar, lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, beef broth, tomato sauce, and ketchup and cook until most of the liquid has evaporated and the beef has a thick consistency.  Lay the cheese over the top of the meat mixture and cover so it can melt into the meat.  Chop the meat with a spatula, so the cheese mixes into the meat and then serve on toasted hoagie buns with shredded lettuce.

Hi! I'm Leora. I am married to a Battalion Chief (who is also the man of my dreams!), a mom to five grown kids, and a nana to seven darling grandkids! I firmly believe in the importance of putting distractions away and sitting down together for family dinner, and doing so has been a tradition in our home ever since my husband and I got married 30 years ago. In fact, my children still come home often for family dinners, even though most are moved out of the house. My goal is to provide you with delicious recipes that you can share with your loved ones around the table. So, join my family for dinner, and pass your plates!
