Homemade Croutons

  • Author: Leora Ellingson

Description

We all have that NICE Italian loaf of bread sitting on the counter that we intended to use, but didn’t… so I turned mine into homemade croutons.
Crispy, golden, buttery, garlicky, and way better than anything from a bag. Zero waste, all flavor. These little crunchies are about to level up every salad and soup in the house.

Ingredients

Scale

1 large loaf of italian bread, crust removed, cubed

¼ cup olive oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tablespoon granulated garlic

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.   Toss the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic, granulated garlic, italian seasoning, and salt.  Place them on the baking sheet, in a single layer, so they aren’t too close.  Bake for 12-20 minutes, watching closely so they don’t burn.  You want them golden brown and crunchy.

Hi! I'm Leora. I am married to a Battalion Chief (who is also the man of my dreams!), a mom to five grown kids, and a nana to seven darling grandkids! I firmly believe in the importance of putting distractions away and sitting down together for family dinner, and doing so has been a tradition in our home ever since my husband and I got married 30 years ago. In fact, my children still come home often for family dinners, even though most are moved out of the house. My goal is to provide you with delicious recipes that you can share with your loved ones around the table. So, join my family for dinner, and pass your plates!
